First up, we want to make the network as easy to use as possible, but we do need a few guidelines to make sure everyone gets the most out of it (especially the chickens). 1. Your Privacy When you subscribe to the mailing list, your email address is kept on our server. We will NEVER pass your details to any third party. The only exception is when you post a message to the list, offering chickens for adoption - your email address will be visible to the members of the list (otherwise, they'd have trouble contacting you).
2. These Chickens are Not For the Pot The Chickens offered for adoption are for caring homes only. They are not for eating, putting in cages or otherwise. Everyone has different ideas about what constitutes a good home and what is acceptable treatment so it is still up to you to determine if your chickens are going to the right place - we just put you in contact with their prospective new carers.
3. Please Keep it Relevant Please keep your posts related to chickens. If you have a chicken coop, or a waterer etc that you want to offer to the group, by all means post it to the list. Selling your car or re-homing your dog are not the sort of thing we would expect to see. Please keep your posts to the list concise and informative - we are all here to help chickens, but not everyone will share your politics.
4. No Spam please If you post to the list and still have chickens left after a week, feel free to re-post, but bombarding the list every day with the same message probably won't help your cause at all.
5. Costs We strongly encourage this network to be used for "free-to-a-good-home" adoptions, but we appreciate there will be times when you need to recover costs. For example, some battery hen operations allow you to take bulk loads of hens, but you do have to pay them. So if you have taken in some of these hens, it's not unreasonable to pass on that cost if you re-home them. Please be fair at all times - making any profit from chickens on the network is really not in the sprit of what we're trying to achieve.
6. Help us to Help More Chickens If you enjoy being part of the network, please tell anyone you know that might also be interested. Word of mouth is our best (and probably only) way of growing the network.
